Are you lucky enough to have an old, large plate mirror in your bathroom? Wondering how you can update it without spending serious cash? This post is for you!

Framing A Bathroom Mirror with Pallets from Rachel Schultz

Rachel Schultz (pictured above!) was one of those people who had an old bathroom mirror to update, and she and her husband did it with pallets. Pallet wood is cheap, and if you look you can always find at least one in great condition. Check your local garden or home improvement stores, which will sometimes just give them away. Carefully take the pallet apart so you don’t scratch up the pieces. Here’s a good tutorial to help.

Process

Stain your pieces of pallet wood in your desired stain color. Remember to stain the back of the pieces also–when you frame the mirror, the backs of the boards all around the edges of the frame will be reflected in the mirror, and you’ll see any unfinished wood!

Use mirror construction adhesive to glue the frame pieces to the mirror, at least on the bottom and the sides. Nail overhanging areas together.

The top of the frame is screwed into place, allowing future access to the lights’ electrical box.

Here is Rachel Schultz’s finished project. A big improvement at very little cost!

At my house, we used some pine boards to turn one mirror into two.

Now that you see how doable it is, try framing your own bathroom mirror. You’ll love the results!
