Swimming pools are definitely fun to have, but not so fun when it comes time for all the regular maintenance. Is there an easier way to keep the pool maintained so you can get back to the fun side of pool ownership? You bet there is. Read on for some swimming pool care hacks you’ll wish you’d known about sooner.
Grab some pantyhose
That old pair of pantyhose is actually perfect for improving your pool skimmer. The fine mesh of the hose catches tiny debris that the regular skimmer can easily miss. Just put a pair over your skimmer, or make a DIY skimmer if you don’t have one already.
Diato-what?
Diatomaceous earth works more effectively than a sand filter alone at filtering out fine particles in your pool water. Just add a cup of the D.E. powder to the sand filter to boost its effectiveness and clear up cloudy water faster.
Tennis, anyone?
Your tennis balls are amazingly effective at picking up oils off the surface of the pool water. Just throw a couple of balls into the pool and let them float around for awhile. They’ll absorb the oils left behind by sunscreen, makeup and hair products.
Blow it away
Grab the leaf blower to quickly blow leaves and debris off the pool cover each time you uncover it. It makes cleaning off the cover a fast and easy job!
Hit up the pantry
A simple box of baking soda from your pantry can help you maintain proper pH of your pool by increasing the alkalinity of the water.
