Welcome to today’s picture-perfect modern farmhouse tour! The beautiful farmhouse you’ll see today is an M House Development home located in the Chicago area. Let’s go!
Modern Farmhouse Tour – Entry Area
The contrast achieved between black and white is a classic farmhouse look. The beautiful entryway in today’s picture-perfect modern farmhouse tour, utilizes black mainly in the doors, sconces, and mirror. It’s just the right amount of black for the space.
Entry Closeup
Staircase
The white staircase opposite the entry seems to almost fade into the background, which I love. Take note of how light and bright the area is, with it’s large paned windows. The black chandelier is a work of art!
Modern Farmhouse Tour – Open Family & Dining Rooms
The family room of our modern farmhouse tour proves that different patterns can be mixed successfully. The brick of the fireplace presents its own pattern, juxtaposed against the neutral leaves of the adjoining wall. Since the chairs are both done in black and white, it doesn’t matter that they are different patterns. Beautiful!
Family Room Features
Window Seat
The vintage black light fixture is perfect against the shiplap wall in the family room. This is a window seat I could spend hours in!
Oval Window & Shiplap Walls
An oval window is an unexpected, but amazing touch in a wall of shiplap.
Dining Room
Looking into the dining room, we see more of the lovely leaf-print wallpaper. Absolutely loving the black doors and décor elements, set against the beautiful hardwood floors. The farmhouse-style dining table is flanked by metal captain’s-style chairs. The pendant light gives ample light without obstructing the view through the French doors.
Modern Farmhouse Tour – Farmhouse Kitchen
Here we are in the farmhouse kitchen. There is so much to love about this space, including the black vintage-style door leading to the laundry room.
Kitchen Cabinets
The glass front cabinet complements the open shelving on the other side of the kitchen. Barn-style Xs give this cabinet real farmhouse flair.
Farmhouse Sink
You’ll notice that the large window spanning the kitchen work space is painted a gray rather than black, which only keeps them from dominating the view outside. The black light fixtures provide plenty of good lighting when needed. And we can’t forget the gorgeous farmhouse sink.
Stove and Kitchen Island
This is an L-shaped kitchen featuring a large island. The island is beautifully capped with a white counter, while the rest of the kitchen features black. White subway tiles are timeless, while the shiplap range hood puts the right finishing touch on everything!

Modern Farmhouse Tour – Rustic Wet-bar
A rustic wet-bar features an open ceiling and rustic-industrial vibe. This is where the homeowners could enjoy unlimited nights of fun entertaining!
Hallway to Master Bedroom
Is it a true farmhouse without sliding barn doors somewhere? M House Development did not forget this important aspect of a modern farmhouse. I adore the star-shaped pendants gracing this hallway.
Master Bedroom with Fireplace
The master suite features a gas fireplace with some simply elegant tile work!
Modern Farmhouse Tour – Master Bathroom
The master bath is finished in an abundance of white shiplap, trim, and cabinetry. It gives the space a clean, elegant feel. But how about that stunning floor tile!
Master Bathroom Vanity
Spacious Bathtub
1 of 4 Bathrooms – Half Bath
The other bathrooms in this modern farmhouse all have a black & white theme, but yet they’re all different and beautiful. Love the vintage touches evident in the sinks, lighting, and tile floor designs.
2 of 4 Bathrooms
I have to mention the black & white penny tile floor of this bath, plus the large orb lights. Stunning!
Bathroom Storage
3 of 4 Bathrooms
This bath features another vintage-style sink and lights. The checkered floor is amazing, and the black walls almost appear to be a dark green.
Modern Farmhouse Tour – Laundry Room
A beautiful blue paint color graces the cabinets in the laundry room. A large sink makes laundry chores easier, and the amount of storage in this room is a definite bonus! I think my favorite part might be the lovely Herringbone tile floor.
