Since you’re here at Pickled Barrel, you must be at least a little curious about rustic style–and that’s a good thing! Rustic DIY projects are some of the best ways to spend your time. Stick around, because today I have some great inspiration to share. Take a look at these rustic headboards you can make in one day.
One of the easiest ways to DIY a rustic headboard is to use an old door. It’s the perfect medium! Paint it, stain it, or distress it as you like, then mount it on the wall. For a great tutorial, see Country Living.
An old pallet is also the perfect medium for a rustic headboard. The pallet boards are taken apart and then mounted to a 2×4 frame. See how Rice Designs did it here.
I love the idea of using old windows as a unique rustic headboard. Because it involves glass {unless you use only the window frames} you will spend most of your time making sure they are securely mounted to the wall. Liz Marie Blog used extra nails behind the windows to ensure that they don’t move if they are bumped.
Over at Little Bit Funky, this DIY headboard was made to look like a rustic lattice. It looks pretty amazing, don’t you think?
Design Sponge used salvaged barn wood to make a DIY rustic headboard. If you don’t have access to salvaged barn wood, use regular lumber stained with a driftwood stain to get the same look.
