Got a squeaky door or cabinet and you’re fresh out of WD-40? Don’t rush off to the store, just grab your can of cooking spray. It will quiet that squeak until your next trip to the home improvement store.
Use Kool-Aid to help track a suspected leaky toilet. Just dump a packet into the tank, and wait 30 minutes without flushing. If you return to see that the water in the bowl has colored, then you know for sure you’ve got leak.
A crayon the same color as your wall will quickly cover up nail holes. Genius!
You’ve probably heard of using painter’s tape when painting, but how about when caulking? Painter’s tape will also protect surrounding areas when you need to use caulk.

Fix a squeaky wood floor with baby powder. Just put some baby powder in a squeeze bottle, and use it to squeeze some of the powder between the boards that are rubbing together. Use a brush to help push the powder into place between the offending boards.
For dents in wood floors or furniture that you can’t abide, there’s an easy solution. Wet the area and then cover it with a damp towel. Grab a hot iron and run it over the towel in circular motions. Pretty soon, those dents will all but disappear!
