Here at Pickled Barrel, we’re pup owners and lovers, so today’s post should really help all of us. Dog grooming can be a bit of a chore, so anything to make it an easier job is a welcome idea. See if any of these 12 dog grooming hacks will make it easier for you {and your pup!}.
1.Don’t put up with that stinky wet dog odor. Grab a dryer sheet and wipe your pooch down with it. It won’t be long before the wet dog smell is gone!
2. Use cornstarch to help untangle Fido’s fur, and also as a dry shampoo between washings.
3. Before you bathe your dog, give him a good brushing to remove loose hair and make bathing more effective. For more tips on brushing your dog, click this link.
4. When you bathe a dog who hates the bath, try a suction cup bathing tether to keep him from escaping the tub.
5. Sooth a dry nose with coconut oil. It also works on the pads of Rover’s paws.
6. Flaxseed oil is a great supplement to give your dog to help his coat look shiny and healthy. Find some at Amazon.
7. Grooming wipes are a great thing to have for emergency clean ups. If you don’t have any, baby wipes are gentle enough for your dog and can be used in a pinch.
8. A non-slip tub mat just for the pups will make bath time easier for everyone.
9. I definitely wouldn’t wash my dogs without the help of a pet sprayer! It makes it so much easier.
10. Use a bathtub strainer to keep all that nasty dog hair from clogging up your bathtub drain.
11. To help your dog get used to toothpaste, try using your finger to brush his teeth at first. Let him lick the paste off and learn that it’s not so bad. Be sure to use toothpaste specifically formulated for dogs!
12. Finally, if your dog just doesn’t enjoy grooming, try taking him on a long walk first. That way, he’ll be tired and less likely to fight the process.
