Wood beams are an important part of modern farmhouse design. What’s more, there are many wood beam styles to choose from when you design your own modern farmhouse. It can seem a little overwhelming if you aren’t sure what you want. Today I’m going to share with you some of my favorite wood beam styles for your modern farmhouse.
Wood Beam Styles For Your Modern Farmhouse
One thing to know about wood beam styles is that they are very versatile. Here’s a very simple dining room with a gorgeous rustic wood beam ceiling. This is definitely a space where the ceiling demands that you look up and take notice. What I love about these beams is that they would look equally amazing against a white ceiling. Rustic beams are for you if you love cozy, lived-in designs.
I love a good vault! This vaulted ceiling is highlighted by the beams that follow the structure of the vault. The use of a light finish on the beams and the ceiling boards makes this ceiling a less obtrusive part of the room, but still a standout. This type of wood beam style is for you is you like a less dramatic look.
Speaking of drama, here’s a ceiling composed of very dark, log-style beams set against a much lighter wood ceiling. Wood beam styles like this work well with modern farmhouse finishes. The best spot for a look like this is in a room with a soaring cathedral ceiling. In another room it could feel stifling.
Here is an example of a more industrial type of beam style. If you don’t want your beams to be wood, there’s always metal. The black beams really call attention to the height of the white ceiling in this modern farmhouse. Skylights set into the ceiling keep the beams from looking too heavy.
Finally, I love ceiling beams laid out in a grid pattern like this modern farmhouse kitchen. Wood beam styles that are unexpected have extra appeal.
