The Wild West: Rustic Lodges That Are Calling Your Name

What Makes A Rustic Lodge?

The rustic lodge style is really reminiscent of nature, and being close to nature. It is a style that originated from the first rustic mountain cabins built in Europe and later America. These rustic mountain cabins were often located in places where there was nothing to build with but what was readily available in the surrounding nature. The elements of a rustic lodge still include unfinished timbers, logs and unpolished stones.

Elements Of Rustic Lodge Style

The room above is an excellent example of rustic lodge style. There is nothing in the room that screams modern–everything is reminiscent of the outdoors beyond that picture window. Wood is everywhere, with some more finished than others, but all of it beautiful. I love the rough-hewn logs used in the table and chairs, and the chandelier made from elk antlers.

Here is another example of rustic lodge style, but the modern conveniences don’t detract from the style of the room. The television is there if needed, but it is certainly not the focal point of the room {as it is in so other modern homes today!}. I don’t think anything other than the fireplace is needed on a cool fall night in this room.

This rustic lodge is the perfect blend of homey comfort and just enough modern to keep everyone comfortable. I love how the lighter woods contrast with the choice of blue in the cabinetry and dining chairs. This rustic lodge is calling my name!

This wood and stone creation shows you how a rustic lodge should fit into its surroundings.  Located next to a towering stone cliff, the lodge doesn’t detract from it but blends in, as if it has been there almost as long. Here’s a place that is calling your name after a day of skiing or hiking in those hills.
