Everyone wants to decorate their home to feel inviting and look great, but not everyone has the funds to just go to the home decorating or furniture store and buy whatever they want {unfortunately!}. But don’t worry, there are ways to decorate your home without spending a dime. I went looking for 12 ways to decorate without any money. Let me show you what I found!
1. Pillows are one of the best ways to make a room feel more inviting. Better Homes and Gardens suggests going around the room, or even the entire house, to gather up a bunch of pillows. Find pillows that are different patterns but have coordinating colors. Arrange the pillows onto the sofa and chairs for a lived in look.
2. Make your windows appear bigger by simply moving the curtain rod higher above the window. Hang the curtains so that they either just barely touch either the windowsill or the floor.
3. Stand your mirror against the wall instead of hanging it on the wall. When it stands at an angle, it gives a more interesting look to the room.
4. Instead of lining your furniture against the walls, move it to create groupings around the room. Here, furniture is grouped around the fireplace for a cozier look and feel.
5. If your room lacks a focal point, such as a fireplace, create one. The console table and shelves achieve the focal point needed in this room.
6. Save the greeting cards you receive and hang them as artwork on the walls. The bonus is that anytime you need a little pick-me-up, you can take one down and read the message.
7. Dress up a plain bedframe by hanging a quilt over it.
8. A non-working fireplace doesn’t have to be an eyesore. Put a large plant in the opening. Perfect!
9. Use that can of leftover paint to dress up an old wooden chair. Just paint the legs of the chair for a pop of color.
10. Wrap old cardboard boxes with leftover wrapping paper, and label them with pieces of colored paper. Use them for pretty storage bins.
11. Collect your family pictures and artwork from around the house, and display them on one wall for maximum impact.
12. Pull out that mismatched tableware you don’t use, and put it in the bathroom for amazing toiletry storage.
