Welcome back to Pickled Barrel! So happy you’re here. Today we have farmhouse living room decor, inspired by none other than Joanna Gaines.
We all know that Joanna is practically the queen of farmhouse decor. So let’s take a little look at some great farmhouse decor you can easily incorporate into your farmhouse home.
Architectural Salvage
Joanna has demonstrated on her show Fixer Upper that one of the best things you can do with architectural salvage items is always the unexpected.
Salvaged window frames are one of those items Joanna employs in her designs frequently. You might see them as shelves, headboards, and other unique design statements. Don’t be afraid to think outside the box with your farmhouse decor!

Oversized Farmhouse Clocks
Is it really a farmhouse if there isn’t an oversized clock on the wall? This is a viable question.

Vintage Books
Vintage books are always included in Joanna’s designs. Sometimes they are recovered for uniformity, and sometimes Joanna uses the pages as wall art. Whatever you choose to do with them, vintage books are a fantastic farmhouse decor element.

Galvanized Wall Planters
I love galvanized buckets. Why not use them indoors as charming wall planters? As you can see, Joanna Gaines uses them in different sizes, shapes, and configurations, but every way she uses them looks fabulous.

Botanical Art
You will never go wrong with botanical prints on the walls of your farmhouse, and that goes for every room. It also doesn’t have to be expensive! Simply find prints in old books and frame them.

Cathedral Window Frames
If you can’t find the vintage window frame you really want, why not DIY one the way you want it? This cathedral window frame is a fine example of what you can do with a bit of ingenuity, a few tools, and some time to spend.

Farmhouse Candlesticks
Reclaimed wood spindles, like the kind you’d find on an old wood staircase, make amazing farmhouse living room decor as candle sticks. I’m sure these would sell for a pretty penny in a store, but this is another farmhouse décor element you can DIY.
Once you locate the perfect spindles, decide how you’d like them finished, or leave them as-is for extra charm. Just use a drill and bit to hollow out a spot for your candlesticks.

Chicken Feeder Planter
This chicken feeder planter might seem a little over-the-top, but if you’re a die-hard farmhouse decor fan, it’s probably just right. Personally, I find it very charming, especially if plants fill both levels of the feeder.

Fiddle Leaf Trees
Being the self-proclaimed plant lady that she is, it’s natural for Joanna to have Fiddle Leaf trees in her farmhouse. You can have them too. Though they can be a little tricky to care for, it can be done. Here are some helpful tips for how to care for and display them in your farmhouse.

Large Object Art
Large objects-turned-wall art are another classic Joanna Gaines-inspired farmhouse decor element. She’s used many in her Fixer Upper show. This former farmhouse windmill is one example of large object art that lends well to interior design. Once again, you just need to think outside the proverbial box.

Greenery in Bottles
Wildflowers, cotton branches and other greenery are used extensively in Fixer Upper designs. My favorite is when they are paired with over-sized glass bottles like you see here.

Groups of Vases and Plants
If one glass vase and flowers is great, then a group is even better! Personally, I ascribe to the notion that things look better displayed in groups of three.

Vintage Doors with Sliding Barn Door Hardware
If you’ve watched enough Fixer Upper, you know that Joanna can take any vintage door she likes and find a way to use it in a space. Barn door hardware is easy to install, and that means you too can convert your favorite vintage door into a sliding door.
