Today I’m here to show you how you can literally clean your microwave in minutes! Microwaves have a way of becoming the nastiest, dirtiest thing in the entire kitchen before you can even think twice. But there is a simple way to get that microwave clean again, and better yet, smelling clean again! {Even if someone burned the popcorn!}. It literally takes no hard scrubbing. So stick around while I show you what to do.
All you need is a lemon and some water. If you have bottled lemon juice, you can use 1/2 cup of that instead of the lemon. I have found that it works just as well!
Just add 1/2 a cup of water into a measuring cup. Slice the lemon in halves, and squeeze the juice into the measuring cup with the water. Now drop in the lemon halves, too! {Or just add 1/2 cup of bottled lemon juice to the water}.
Stick the whole thing in the microwave, and run it on high for about three minutes, or until the water starts boiling. Do not open the microwave! Let the accumulated steam and hot measuring cup sit there for another 5 minutes, or even longer if your microwave is pretty yucky. The steam loosen the gunk and makes it so you will be able to just wipe most of it right out.
Now open the door and use a soft towel or a wad of paper towels to wipe everything clean. Start with the ceiling of the microwave and work your way down the sides to the bottom. Don’t forget the inside of the door as well. For any remaining tough spots, wet the towel in the hot lemon mixture to help loosen it. Enjoy your clean {and fresh smelling!} microwave!
